The Introduction to Search and Rescue in British Columbia provides a valuable overview of the Search and Rescue (SAR) model used in British Columbia, and the roles and responsibilities of each component in the SAR structure. This course complements the Ground Search and Rescue volunteer training modules currently provided through Justice Institute of British Columbia (°®¶¹´«Ã½), and includes examples of typical SAR responses. This introductory course is intended to address the needs of three primary audiences: . New SAR volunteers, as part of their general orientation . Personnel from agencies that support or utilize the services of volunteer SAR groups in BC, as an overview of how agencies and SAR groups work together . Individuals interested in Search and Rescue, who want to learn more about how SAR works in BC Existing SAR members may also find this course useful in providing background information and a view of the "big picture" that may not have been available when they took their GSAR training.
