°®¶¹´«Ã½ Community Public Safety Award

The °®¶¹´«Ã½ Community Public Safety Award provides awards of up to $3,300 to eligible communities to receive specialized emergency management training provided by the Justice Institute of British Columbia.

This award is supported by BC Hydro, which makes grants to programs for public safety and emergency preparedness. The organization provides these award funds to help increase the response capability of BC communities by supporting the training of first responders, employees, and volunteers.

Eligibility Criteria
  • A Municipality, Regional District, or First Nations community located in a BC Hydro service area in British Columbia. See the  to confirm eligibility.
  • In need of Incident Command System (ICS) or Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) training for their staff or volunteers and must be a legal entity; unincorporated communities/electoral areas must apply through their Regional District.

We encourage applications where participants will include representatives from neighbouring communities and government organizations to further increase local emergency management capacity. Priority is given to applications from remote and rural, and First Nations communities.

 

Course Information

Four courses are available for funding under the °®¶¹´«Ã½ Community Public Safety Award. Click the course titles below to view course details.

  • EMRG 1220 – Incident Command System Level 200
    • Available Online: $403.54 per student (minimum 10 student enrollment). Self-paced, online, requires approximately 14 hours to complete. OR
    • Available Face-to-Face: $5279.00 flat rate per course (maximum 24 students). Two-day course (14 hours). Does not include the additional course costs, such as instructor travel, accommodation, meals, and shipping. 
  • EMRG 1230 – Incident Command System Level 300:
    • Available Online: $403.54 per student (minimum 10 student enrollment). Self-paced, online, requires approximately 14 hours to complete. OR
    • Available Face-to-Face: $5,279.00 flat rate per course (maximum 24 students). Two-day course (14 hours). Does not include the additional course costs, such as instructor travel, accommodation, meals, and shipping.
  • EMRG 1240 – Incident Command System Level 400:
    • Available Face-to-Face: $7,375.00 flat rate per course for 10 – 12 students. $11,163.00 flat rate per course for 13 – 24 students. (Minimum 10 students to a maximum of 24). Course is conducted over three days. Does not include the additional course costs, such as instructor travel, accommodation, meals, and shipping.
  • EMRG 1320 – Emergency Operations Centre Essentials:
    • Available Online: $6,574.00 flat rate per course (maximum 24 students) Instructor-led/facilitated course conducted over 4 weeks. Requires student participation. OR
    • Available Face-to-Face: $5,279.00 flat rate per course (maximum 24 students). Two-day course (14 hours). Does not include the additional course costs, such as instructor travel, accommodation, meals, and shipping.
